Who is Ed Christmas?
Hello, I’m Ed Christmas. I’ve been been a hypnotherapist since 2019. My goal is to dedicate myself to the wellbeing and growth of all of my clients, recognising that we all need support along the way. Life can be tricky, and habits and routines can become hard to handle. Sometimes we just need a helping hand.
There is no weakness in this, nor is it silly to ask. We are not meant to live alone, secluded and isolated from others. Recognising a need is so important, and acting on that need is brave, wise and healthy.
I feel that at the foundation of my therapy is my ability to empathically and intuitively listen. To hear and to see are skills – skills which we are often not taught. I’ve spent years become a listener – listening to myself, to my needs, to the flow of my internal cosmos. Then a few more years learning to listen to those around me.
It is so easy to get caught up in ourselves, so when we stop for a moment and reach out, that is when we come alive. It is when we get caught up that we so quickly forget our uniqueness and strength. Together, we can bring down some of that tension and find ways to move forward.
A bit about Ed’s Training
I qualified as a hypnotherpist in 2019, after which I was certified and accredited by the National Hypnotherapy Society (NHypS).
After comepleting this, I went to start my counselling training with Lifeforce Counselling Courses in Colchester, which holds a Gold Standard by the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). Here, I completed the Counselling Skills training, which had a profound impact on me. I also learnt about and ascribed to the BACP Ethical Framework and Guidelines during this time, and continue to be bound by their ethics.
Once finished with this, a lot changed in my life. I moved on, and started training in Hypno-CBT with the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy.
A bit about Ed’s Life
Though I was born in England, I was raised in France from about 8 years old. After school, I went to study English Literature at UEA (University of East Anglia), Norwich. After this, I went abroad and travelled through parts of Asia. This was a period of significant transformation for me, where I developed a more holistic mindset.
Once ready, I returned to the UK briefly before returning to travel, this time in New Zealand and Australia, spending two and a half years there. Along the way, I continued to grow, learning what I felt I would be ready to dedicate myself to. Through discussions with a friend, I was introduced to hypnotherapy, and it all clicked in my mind – This is my path.
Since then, I’ve undertaken a lot of training, worked in a care environment for two years, becoming a senior shift leader during that time, and continued to learn, explore, and adapt my practice to the needs of my clients. Once qualified and ready, I set up my own hypnotherapy business and started as a sole trader under the name ‘ByOsmosis Therapies’.
